An Open Question to the Community

I have a friend who is involved in starting up a website oriented towards artists and writers. He contacted me to ask what blogs and websites I considered useful and important for writers, probably with a view to posting links.

I gave him a list of some I considered valuable--and, of course, referred him to the esteemed cast of bloggers over on the sidebar of this blog. But I thought I'd throw out the question to all of you folks as well. Are there any writing-related sites you consider especially valuable or prominent?

Editorial Anonymous (editorialanonymous.blogspot.com)is good. It deals with children's books primarily but has many gems of wisdom and much snarkish humour..

I'll point you to the lovely and talented Alexandra Sokoloff:

Internet Resources For Writers

If you need more, I'll send you all the RSS feeds from my "writing" tag in Google Reader.

I must admit, I tend to read writers' blogs more than other kinds of writing sites but of the latter kind Dovegreyreaderscribbles is great for reviews - particularly of Booker-nominated books when she does her 'Bookerthon' each year and Vulpes Libris is great for reviews and general discussions on particular themes, genres etc. My favourite day on the latter (there's a new post daily as it's a collective blog)is Thursday for the 'soapbox' (aka rant) feature.

Hi, Lorrie--

Thanks for that. I'd never been there before, but Editorial Anonymous is hilarious. I'll certainly be going back often!

Hi, Alis--

I'd never been to DoveGrey before, but I'll certainly be going back. And thanks for steering me to Vulpes Libris--they'd completely slipped my mind!

Grammar Girl's podcast is one of my "musts." She explains complex grammer in a very simple way.
